Infrastructure Engineer Position Summary Codeworks, an LRS company, is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer for a fully remote contract position. This role designs, implements, maintains, and optimizes enterprise infrastructure solutions that support organizational reliability, scalability, performance, and security objectives. You'll serve as a technical leader for infrastructure automation and cloud-native technologies, playing a key part in advancing cloud infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerization, automation, and hybrid cloud networking initiatives. This role collaborates closely with infrastructure, application, and operations teams to deliver secure, resilient, and efficient technology solutions. What You Will Do Serve as a subject matter expert for AWS CDK, Terraform, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices Design, develop, and maintain standardized, reusable Terraform modules, templates, and governance frameworks Establish and enforce infrastructure coding standards and best practices Manage infrastructure state files and support secure deployments across multi-account AWS environments Develop and maintain automated infrastructure deployment and configuration processes Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar platforms Automate infrastructure provisioning, validation, security controls, and deployment processes Support continuous integration and continuous delivery initiatives across infrastructure and cloud environments Architect, implement, and support container orchestration platforms utilizing AWS EKS, ECS, Kubernetes, Docker, and related technologies Establish standards and processes for container security, image management, registry administration, and deployment automation Collaborate with development teams to support adoption of containerized application architectures Design, maintain, and optimize hybrid cloud environments supporting on-premises and cloud-based services Manage AWS networking services including Transit Gateway, Route 53, Direct Connect, and Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) Ensure secure, reliable, and highly available connectivity between enterprise systems and cloud resources Support network performance optimization, monitoring, and troubleshooting activities Provide guidance and technical recommendations for modernization and migration initiatives Required Qualifications Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) for infrastructure provisioning and automation (required) Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in production environments Experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar) Experience with container orchestration platforms (AWS EKS, ECS, Kubernetes, Docker) Strong working knowledge of AWS networking services including Transit Gateway, Route 53, Direct Connect, and VPC Experience managing multi-account AWS environments with secure deployment practices Experience with hybrid cloud architecture supporting both on-premises and cloud-based services Strong scripting and automation skills Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship Canididates must reside in one of the following locations: Wisconsin, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois (only the following counties/cities: Aurora, Bartlett, Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake Palatine, Plainfield), Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland (Montgomerie and Caroline county), Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah. Preferred Qualifications AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or similar) Experience with container security, image scanning, and registry administration best practices Experience with infrastructure state management and governance frameworks at scale Background in enterprise modernization or cloud migration programs Third-party candidates will not be considered for this position. The base range for this contract position is $50 - $75 per hour, depending on experience. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors. This opportunity will lead a large-scale ServiceNow consolidation effort, combining two ServiceNow instances into a unified platform while partnering with business and technical stakeholders to ensure successful delivery. Responsibilities Lead all phases of the project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure. Oversee the consolidation of multiple ServiceNow instances into a single enterprise platform. Manage project scope, budget, schedule, resources, risks, and dependencies to ensure successful outcomes. Facilitate project planning sessions, develop work breakdown structures (WBS), and maintain detailed project plans. Coordinate activities across project teams, vendors, consultants, and stakeholders. Identify, track, and resolve project risks and issues, escalating as appropriate. Provide regular project status updates and communicate effectively with business leaders, technical teams, and executive stakeholders. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience. Experience managing projects involving multiple stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams. Proven ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, and project dependencies. Strong experience facilitating project planning sessions and developing detailed project plans. Excellent written, verbal, and stakeholder communication skills. Strong leadership, relationship-building, and problem-solving abilities. Experience presenting to project governance bodies, steering committees, and executive leadership. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Microsoft Office, and related project management tools. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading ServiceNow implementation, migration, consolidation, or enhancement projects. Experience managing enterprise platform modernization or transformation initiatives. Experience within healthcare or other highly regulated environments. Demonstrated success implementing project management process improvements and governance standards. The base range for this contract position is $80.00 - $105.00 per hour, depending on experience.
